The Building Arts & Crafts Institute is the Arcade Project’s response to a simple problem: the skills needed to maintain and restore Victorian buildings are disappearing.
We are developing a programme of heritage craft training rooted in real buildings — starting with Wayfarers Arcade itself. Participants will learn conservation skills, traditional building arts, and the kind of practical knowledge that cannot be found in a classroom.
The Institute will work backwards from what needs doing to the skills required to do it. That is the logic of generative craft applied to the built environment.
