The Engine Room is a music venue, coffee house, and workshop space inside a Grade II listed Victorian arcade in the centre of Southport.
It is open Thursday to Sunday. The coffee house is open to members during the day. The venue opens to the public for ticketed events
Fortnightly jazz sessions and ukulele club. Occasional evening performances. Matinees available.
Fortnightly honky tonk sessions, fortnightly country line dancing, and a bigger show every fifth Saturday.
This is the primary way for local musicians to get involved. These are public events.

The programme is built around a simple idea: a session where players develop. A workshop where someone learns a skill and then teaches it. A building project where volunteers become conservationists.
Young people aged 16–26 are particularly welcome to get involved in the technical and production side – sound, lighting, video, graphic design, social media, hospitality. These are real roles in a working venue.
The Engine Room occupies Unit 44 at Wayfarers Arcade — a double-height space across two floors, with a mezzanine overlooking the arcade below. Downstairs is the coffee house and bar. Upstairs is the performance and workshop space.
The coffee house is open to members preparing for public events. The venue is open to the public during those events.
Room Hire
£100 per day for upstairs space.
£150 per day for downstairs space.
Staffing, cleaning deposit, and terms on request.
