Launch night, 26 September:

The People Speak is an artist-run, commercial enterprise often hired by organizations such as Councils, schools and regeneration agencies. TPS appropriate or mimic populist models of entertainment they believe are respected by their participants (mainly the young and 'socially excluded'), such as game shows and karaoke, in attempts to spark dialogue and highlight concerns. Their practice raises difficult questions: are participants truly given a chance to air their views; who is there to hear them and respond; are the issues raised followed up by those responsible?

"Talkaoke is a mobile chat-show that invites participants to sit down and air their views around 'the flying saucer of chat'. The host sits in the middle on a swivel chair wielding the microphone and keeping the discussion flowing. The Talkaoke table's internal PA and video projection system broadcasts live to the whole room, and online to the world! If you come to Talkaoke, it's up to you what happens... There are only two rules: no singing and no punch-ups."
